| My tip is to drink 1 to 2 Yakult a day, can do this from very early on (once you are on free fluids basically). The packaging (or maybe the website) states that it helps to prevent both diarrhea and constipation and gives you all the good gut flora that you should have. I really enjoyed them when I was on the liquid diet too as they are only little and taste quite nice (very sweet, which isn't my norm, but for some reason I still like them). | |

| Poor You! I think it's safe to say your surgeon gave you crap advice! lol, lol, It seems this operation initially either gives you the "runny poo's" as my kids used to call it or death by constipation. Either way, adding Benefibre, to your food and drinks every day will help. If you still struggle with constipation add in some regular Lactulose (a stool softener). Don't let it go too long in between bowel motions otherwise it sets like concrete inside you and as you have found, is very painful to get out! cheers Nini | |

| I've been on nene fibre for the past 5 months, I only take it every 2nd or 3rd day now or when I remember. Just helps a little. I could probably go without but I think I will slowly wean myself off it and perhaps just gave a dose when I need it. | |

| I'm so glad somebody else brought this up! Several days after surgery I had to induce my first poop with the laxatives they gave me at the hospital, and it worked WAY too well. I pooped my pants on a walk around the block. Completely humiliating!!! Have not used laxatives since. | |

| I do t think anyone's first post surgery poop was easy peasy, it was like pooping a brick. After that it's been fine I did use benfibre daily for the first month. | |

| Hi Lainey92, I am lmao over your sense of humour!!!! Sorry for the pun.
Seriously, I am sorry for your poo troubles! 13 days!! I can't imagine it! I have NEVER gone more than 2 days without 'going' (in fact, I have the opposite problem). You must have been so uncomfortable. And passing those initial rocks would have been agony :( Torn your poor bum apart :( + the cramping - I reckon (having had irritable bowel) that that is the worst bit. Nasty. I have been at the stage where I am actually dry retching.
Try to get some fibre into your food e.g. psyillium, ground flaxseed/linseed, and increase your fluids if you haven't already done so.
Hey! You shoulda weighed yourself before and after! (Did you? I would have! Just for research you know!)
Thinking of you, not laughing at you, :) | |

| Warning: will contain a TMI experience lol
It will be my 2nd week tomorrow after being sleeved.. And since surgery day (05/05/15) I have not yet had a bowel movement. It's been 13 days... Until today.
Oh boy, was it terrible! Prior to this, I did not experience any discomfort from not having a bowel movement but after speaking to my surgeon, he said it was fine & that it was normal to experience no bowel moment until I started eating things with thicker substance rather than just fluids. So I wasn't too fussed.
Today though, I felt like I needed to go, and usually when I feel like this, I just pass gas. But I went to the toilet and I was so happy to realise that I was actually going to finally poop! Yipeee! This joy was very short-lived...
My first 3 poops felt like rocks. No joke. I was actually in tears trying to pass them. And I was trying so hard not to push, but my stomach muscles kept clamping and it literally took about half an hour before they were finally, FINALLY out😩😩. And then when the first painful ones were out, it was regular poo coming out .. And boy did it come out! I just kept pooing and pooing lol but it felt like normal poo only a little softer. And it felt good because my anus was really sore after those earlier rocks! I guess 13 days worth of poo was finally out of my system. I'm very happy that it's finally happened, but damn!! No lie, my anus is still sore ... And now my stomach is feeling queasy. Might go have some water and have a rest lol who has a rest from long hard poop?? Me! Hahahaha anyway, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or have any similar experiences? I know this is not a dinner time topic lmao but thought I'd share and see if anyone else had a hard time :)
Have a great week! | |
