| ke sure too wear goves and socks. se heat bags at home. I use one on my back at home. flannette sheets area must. I use comforters and blanketson the bed in layers. I always have a blanket covering me on the couch.
re clothing use layers. I find the upper bdy gets very cold but I have a lot of padding lol, on the legs, being a shorty id have to be like a skeleton on the top half to get risof it andi still think id have fat legs.
pardon the spelling errors as I am typing on a tablet.with the extra cold weather please be aware of'chilbains', it is like frostbite. A friend who is normal weight has it. Also drink water drinks.
just remember it sucks being cold but at least you can wear more clothes lol

| I'm one year and 2 months post surgery and no change... still freezing. I have now invested in an electric blanket to warm up the bed before I get in it. I couldn't warm myself up in the cold bed, so it made sleeping harder. I have heaps of thermals to wear under everything. I have a down jacket that goes down to my knees (rated 750) and a down vest (rated at 850). My other tip is don't bother with katmandu type shops, go straight to the 'real' camping type stores. They jackets are the same price at Kathmandu, there usually thiner but the down is rated higher... so there warmer!! Its all about trying to keep warm at the moment. | |

| Glad to see this thread! My body seems to struggle with heating my hands, feet and nose LOL. My hands might begin to get warm, then my nose and feet drop in temp lol. Or my feet warm up, and my nose and hands drop. Absolutely agree about bedtime- takes SO much longer to get to sleep because it's much harder to warm the extremities post op. Very amusing to my mates and I- I'm like "feel this hand, now feel my nose....now feel my foot...and now my hand again"
Loving my electric blanket!

| Dayle, Be warned - onesies are nice and cosy UNTIL you need to go to the loo. Then you have nothing on the top part of your body when you have to pull it down - shivery, shivery, goosebumpy visits (especially late at night and early in the morning) from my childhood recollections, LOL! | |

| Yes, Yes, Yes...Feeling the cold and haven't even hit peak winter yet! I too am going to sleep with fluffy socks and a heat pack every single night! I can't imagine how bad it will get in the middle of winter!
I find that having a really hot shower before bed helps - somewhat!

| Yep, it is very common to be cold down to your bones after Surgery. It's due to the lowing of your metabolism. As you lose weight it's like turning your internal metabolic furnace down. The more weight you lose the less heat is produced by your basal metabolic rate. Better get used to a higher power bill this winter LOL. and get your thermals and long johns out. If you're going through menopause like me, one minute your frozen the next radiating heat.
cheers Nini. | |

| Yep, I was another one who walked around building sites at 6 in the morning in a t-shirt in the middle of winter!!
Not anymore! Now I have a collection of thermals and I wear t-shirts and singlets under everything! I'm hanging out for mothers day! Not because I'm a mum, just so I can buy the warmest flannel PJ's I can find on special!!
Even worse, I'm thinking about buying a electric blanket for my bed and another for sitting under while watching tv and I have never even owned one for my bed before.

| I used to run around in shorts and a t-shirt most of the year round, I only own two jumpers!
Now, OMG I am freezing all the time, I thought it was just a colder start to winter than normal, but it takes forever for my feet to thaw out at night (which takes me longer to go to sleep as I cant get to sleep with cold feet). Im aching all over, I understand what my Nan used to say when she could feel the cold in her bones! I even have a spare jacket in my drawer at work to pull on over the top of what Im wearing because I get cold lol
I hate to think what our heating bill is going to be when Winter really starts going :(

| I still get hot flushes, not as much as a few years ago, but they are persisting. I did use a sage based herbal capsule which helped for a while, but my body overcomes most things in about 3 months. My Mum suffered from just feeling hotter than everyone else even before menopause, meno just makes it worse, and at least one of my sisters is the same as me, we are like Mum. It doesn't help that years ago I was on the old tricyclic antidepressants which made me sweat like crazy, and then I was one of the first tried on Zoloft and for 3 years it was like I had a furnace burning inside me. I hate, hate, hate being hot now, it actually makes me feel ill. I still sleep with a fan on me most of the way through our winter here, though it is disgustingly mild. I have been hanging out for winter again, but I am so hoping that getting this weight off will help a bit. The bummer is that people with Hashimoto's usually get very cold, I couldn't be so lucky. | |

| Hi Winds & Suze, OK, I had radical hysterectomy she 48, about 5.5 yes ago, which put me not only into menopause but also over the other side of it. Phew!!! I only had 1 hit night which was 1week after surgery. Now in Turkey, specialists don't like to keep you in medication, hence all natural ways to heal are used.
For 1 month, I was to drink sage tea every day.
Place 4 heaped tablespoons of dried sage in 1cup of hit water. Cover tightly & steep for 4hrs or overnight. Then when u need it, strain the concoction, reheat it, and drink up. If u like chamomile tea, I'll like it, otherwise put some local fresh honey with it. Definitely NOT milk. It works!! Its healthy alternative to meds.
Enjoy....:-) | |

| barbiedoll, is that measurements for the tea? as I would quite like that if possible... I have a friend who is really suffering from flushes due to menopause. She has not long been a survivor of breast cancer so I hate seeing her having another tough time. Also, what was the 30 days referring to?
Sorry to cut in on your convo - cheeky!

| Hi Suze61, I'm mnt Tamborine behind gold coast. Since the sleeve I've frozen. R u having sweats from menopause?? If so, sage tea is a godsend. U steep the dry leaves overnight then just heat up by cup full during the following day. This was advised to me by gyny in Turkey & was perfect. 30days later nothing again. Hope it helps. I can fund the exact measurements if you want. Anyway good luck... At least our cool weather will help you a little!! :-) | |

| I'm asking out if curiosity, but did anybody notice feeling a lit colder after being sleeved.
I'm 7weeks, and have noticed being cold constantly. Supermarkets I'm freezing in, & afternoons need a warm shower & warm PJs to keep me from being/feeling cold.
Is the molecular change so great as to change you like this?
Thanks.. Barbiedoll | |
