| So sorry to hear that you are having such a bad time, Rose76. I felt really miserable for the first three days and then started to pick up. Having a Hiatus Hernia Repair will make the operation a lot more painful and swallowing more difficult for a few days. And some people have a lot more swelling in the stomach that makes swallowing more difficult. There are a number of things that could be happening, like oesophogeal spasms Signs and symptoms of esophageal spasms can include:Squeezing pain in your chest, often intense, which you might mistake for heart pain (angina)Difficulty swallowing The feeling that an object is stuck in your throatThe return of food and liquids back up your esophagus (regurgitation)Did you have a leak test before leaving hospital? Are you on a regular anti-acid tablet? When is your post-op follow up appointment with your surgeon? You need to ring him up and get in to get things checked if things don't settle soon.hope you're feeling better soon, Nini | |

| Rose ,
Why did you discharge yourself if you clearly need ongoing support from your surgeon.
I hope it all gets better for you very quickly !
Thinking of you. Tara | |

| Hi I not sure if this is normal or not I had a gasrtic sleeve plus hiatus hernia repair on Monday morning It is now Thursday I discharged myself today although my surgeon said I should have a smile on my face and bags packed to leave...but the nursing staff were treating me like a drug addict so I decided I would rather take the meds home and do it myself From the moment I woke I have had the most awful chest pain It comes in waves even whenever I am not eating or drinking But after taking even a sip of water I get an awful sharp gastric spasm, does not last long but it takes my breath away The main wound site is also very sore and I limp around the house holding onto my belly I did sip a protein drink today and ate some custard but fluids are a struggle due to the pain I just can't belive how much this has thrown me around and how much it hurts
I read most people had no pain after 3 days! So is this normal? Could the fact that I also had a hiatus hernia repair be why it's so sore? | |
