| Thanks changed mind, I'm definitely keen to try out different options. I was not so sure about the vinegar because of the acidity. My reflux mends didn't do much. Minds not super bad but just uncomfortable and consistent. I have never had it before! | |

| Oh yes, I have heard good things about slippery elm too although I know little about it. I just asked my mum coz I thought she might know, I said "Mum, what is slippery elm powder used for?" and she immediately responded "digestion I think, or indigestion" - That's good enough for me, my mum's da best! :P | |

| Hi Graceful, as many people on this site have known I have had a terrible time with reflux although mine wasn't the typical symptons. I had the lump in the throat, heartburn and the extra saliva. I was told to stop all my reflux meds as some times they mask the symptons - you can imagine I nearly fell of my chair thinking it was going to come back worse! I have since started taking slippery elm powder (available from the health food shop) you dissolve a teaspoon in hot water and then just top it up with some juice, to about half a cup and drink. I have to say my symptoms are 90% better at this point | |

| I did not know about the ginger tea! Assuming it would need to be freshly cut ginger, not the convenient minced type? I wonder if that would help with the bloaty feeling I get in the morning. All I manage is half a cup of coffee (sometimes it stays down, sometimes it does) eitherway, I feel bloaty and just cold fluids for the rest of the day.
See my gallbladder removal, anything too spicy or acidic, I hit the floor. I've heard many health benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar but not game to try it even watered down.
Going to grab some fresh ginger on the way to work tomorrow to test out this theory :-) Add a bit of lemon and a dash of honey - should be perfect winter drink to start your day off v:-)

| Hey Graceful,
Firstly, I love apple cider vinegar and have used is as a tonic mixed with honey and water in the past for other reasons, however (in my own personal opinion only) it wouldn't be my first (or second or third or tenth) "go to" when looking for a natural remedy for reflux. My first choice would be ginger which is widely known as a digestion aid, and many people brew a few slices in boiling water and drinking it as a tea for enjoyment or for health. However, that is my own un-researched gut reaction.
Secondly, if there is a range of conflicting information on Google, it doesn't sound like a sure bet.....hang on..... I just Googled it too to see what I could find and I see what you mean - the fact that some point out the fact that it has acidity stood out to me. I'd be getting some sort of advice form someone non-cyber (naturopath or similar) before trying it. But can recommend the ginger tea.
Hope you sort it out soon - reflux is not pleasant!

| Mum suggested that Apple cider vinegar is a natural remedy for reflux. Google search has conflicting info. Has anyone tried it? Was it effective? | |
