New Facebook group!

Hi Jesscardona - I think that's correct but only members can see what is commented on but others can see what members are part of it or be able to search for the group. Most members have a separate FB page just for their VSG journey from their private FB page.

I'm new to the forum, and I saw this FB group.. I found it and requested to join, it only said closed but not private.

Yay. I few familiar people going!! Me too. Can't wait to see you all there.  

Remember I did list some of the hotels near the venue and yes some did have 3 bd rooms some of the pub kind ones were cheap. Maybe copy and paste them.

Sure, no problems Bluebag, I'll keep you in the loop. At the moment they are just discussing what hotels etc. Also if anyone wants to share hotel rooms etc as some hotels offer triple share rooms.

Hi everyone, I've switched the FB page from Closed to Private, this will hopefully help with any issues of friends seeing things about the group. If anyone has any issues please let me know. You must have made the group secret since this was written as the only thin under that name is a community page. Can you post a link at all?

Hi Christine, thanks for that! Being a secret group theres no way for me to search for it haha, I need to be invited. My name on Facebook is Lana Kay with the same profile pic I have here. 

How exciting for you! I had my initial appt with Dr Lockie and Shirley on the 17th of Feb, have my gastroscopy tomorrow and then that's it for all my pre-op stuff, hoping I can be booked for surgery very soon! I've been waiting a very long time for this x.x I'm having my op at Ipswich though, so that might make the wait a little longer....

Anyway, so excited for you! Keep us posted on how you go and stuff :)

Just to let you know there is already a secret group called Gastric Sleevers Australia on Facebook. A lot of us are members there also.

Also Dr Lockie is doing my sleeve on 8 April :)

You may find people can see your posts, I am a member of a few "closed groups" for those who want complete privacy also you need to send a request to join.

 Just looking through this page I can read anyone's comments and previous posts whereas in any closed group you can't.

I may be wrong but I have been caught before.

I just went to the FB page and yes - you can see who has commented or posted - so it is not a closed group - but I'm not sure who one gest into a closed group anyway

Hi Kazz, just looked myself up using my SO's facebook, and even if we're friends, people can't see what groups we're members of, and can't see any posts we've made to the group on our personal facebook (""me" has posted to Gastric Sleeve Support Australia" and the like) the only way someone can see that you're part of a private group is if they themselves look for the group, and even then, they can only see who is in the group, they can't see any posts made.

I have organised a coffee catch up at Cannon Hill on Sat 29th March if you would like to come along.

Just search for the the group on Facebook and click join. I'm South of Brisbane, more Logan area. I'll be getting my op from Dr Phil Lockie, jumping through the last of my hoops this week.
