| The letter I got said if you want to continue this coverage call us, so it can be continued but unless they wave it waiting periods will apply for an "diffrence" between you coverage now and the new coverage. for example if you chose no excess on the new coverage you would still pay the old excess until the waiting period is served.
When I moved to this "higher" cover it was on a deal that I would get immediate access without waiting periods, I think I may ring to "bitterly complain" about the removal of Obesity surgery and ask if they can upgrade without penalty because of it.

| Yeah I'm getting the heeby geebys & thinking of upgrading sooner rather than latter.
Say if there are complications post-surgery (lordy I hope not!), then I'm only covered till July. And if I try to upgrade then, prior to the July cut-off, can they say it's a pre-existing condition & knock me back?

| It's scary Kiah, I probably will upgrade but after the rise I will be paying $165 per fortnight! (Healthmate Ultimate family with extras) who knows what it will be with more coverage. An I am flat out paying what it is now. | |

| I've heard really good things about Dr Michael Hazifotis, sounds like you're in good hands.
I'm in HCF Advanced Hospital Savings also, & have the same issue. My biggest worry is what if I have complications. I rang HCF & they said I would need to upgrade to their Top Hospital cover before 1 July this year to be covered for that - and that level of cover would cost us $224 instead of our current $145 per month. Not sure what to do - maybe just see how I pull up after the surgery? I suspect we might have to bite the bullet and upgrade though. I know for those unfortunately people who have had complications, the financial outlay is terrifying.
But here's hoping we all come through with flying colours!

| Not yet, 2 more weeks (march 26) before I can get into see my chosen Surgeon Dr Michael Hazifotis at Geenslopes. not too bad I suppose I only rang for the appointment on March 3.
I need to be completed by june as the insurance no longer covers it, so I have already started Opitfast to get a head start and maybe get in early if they have a cancellation, I work for myself so I can swap and change to get around almost any date.

| Kiah, most of us had at least a moment where we said "oh god what am I doing" I am 5 weeks out. People say I am glowing and I have lost 2 sizes and almost 16 kilos in weight. I feel fabulous! It is tough sometimes and I still get scary moments where I fear it will fail and I'll stay obese and be an utter failure, but in these short weeks this tool has done more for me to assist with managing my weight than any other tool in my life (I've had a gastric band, and about every diet known to human kind- and a few alien ones too!) Be confident, be strong and know that there are many likeminded sleevers out here to give you support when you need it. bright blessings

| Hello everyone! Been lurking here from some months, finally decided to man up (er, should be 'woman up'?) & say hi. I've written a bit of a blurb and posted it in The Diary, but thought I should also say hello here. Not long now till my sleeve date - 18th of March - yikes that's really soon! Of course I have all the usual terrors... Sitting bolt upright at 2:30 am this morning panicking: What if it doesn't work for me? Even if I lose some weight, I'll put it all back on plus more! Fortunately, thanks to all the information & wisdom you good folks have shared, I know it's not unusual to have the odd conniption re this sort of stuff. So trying to stay calm & remember WHY I am doing this. I'm very aware of the risks wrt this procedure - there's some heartbreaking stories on here. It's been so valuable to read it all, both the good and the bad. But I know I need to take action now, & I fervently hope this operation - this tool - will help me reach my goals. And just cos I can, this emoticon pretty sums up the first 3 days of the opti-blah phase lol | |
