| Hi Shanna Welcome back, glad you are doing well. Dont worry about the fluid gain, I gained 4kg in hospital but now 8days post op I have lost that plus another 9kg, however I did put myself on fluid tablets for about 3 days as well. I checked with my dr and he said probably not a good idea to be on fluid tablets because body will adjust and get rid of excess by itself and being on fluid only diet he didn't want me to lose any nutrients, so not on them now. I had my post op dr appointment yesterday and he was really happy with me and was quite surprised I had lost 8kg (yesterday), lost another kg overnight. You will be fine. Be careful on mushies, I am on liquid for at least another week, dietition thought I should be on liquid another two weeks (saw her yesterday as well). Welcome to the weight loss bench. | |

| Welcome to the losing side Shanna. Thanks for posting and letting us know you are doing okay. I look forward to hearing how you are doing. It will probably take about a week to get the pain drugs and anaesthetics out of your system...Relax and sip, sip sip. My surgeon did not put me on a liquid diet either....all he told me was "soft foods only for the first 3-4 weeks". There seems to be as many post op food plans as there are surgeons. During the first week home, my favourite thing was camomile tea. My tummy loved it. Take care and

| welcome home shanna,
its so good to have you back, im glad everything went well for you. I think you will find that most of us did have the runny poo (lol) at the start. Mine started a couple of days after my op and it got better but was still runny for a couple of weeks after the op. I have to agree with everyone that you being on mushies already is really fast....be really careful with what you eat. I was on nourishing liquids(this includes purees, but as oldfart said only if they go up a straw) for 2 weeks then mushies for 2 weeks then normal food ( but started out with softer type foods first).
Anyway, i hope your feeling well today

| Welcome back Shanna! i am gald that you and old fart are doing well. The toilet action was a bit of a scare for me ( and the porceilin too!!!) but it got better! I cant help it - i weigh myself every day - i think i need new scales though because i weighed myself when I woke up, went to the toilet, weighed myself again ( dont ask....) and the scales told me that I had put on weight!!!!!!! i just smiled because I can blame the scales now!!!! i am really interested about everyone's post-op diet. Mine was 1 week liquid, 1 week puree, 1 week soft mushees and then on to 'normal' food. But from what I 've read, this seems fast moving compared to other people. I havent had any problems, just the heart-burn feeling if I eat too fast. I can thankfully say that I do enjoy the taste of water now - it was a bit had to swallow in the first two weeks. The hardest thing is that I really am missing my relationship with food. I used to enjoy eating, tasting, enjoying my food and now that I have to be really mindful of what I put in my mouth, how much, and how careful I am to chew it, the enjoyment is gone - feels like I have lost a friend.......... but then I hop on my dodgy scales and we are slowly becomming friends ( they still groan when I hop on them, but this will stop eventually!!!) Em xoxoxo | |

| Shanna, Just to say that great to hear you are home and doing so well, I gotta say a day is a long time after surgery as every day I am feeling heaps better than the day before (I went pistol shooting today .45 Magnum) shopping etc and enjoying a lovely soup for tea my wife made ...... I had the farts and runs for the first two days home but nothing at all since, I am pretty confident I will be back at work Saturday week, actually I reckon I could work now if I wanted too but I am not going to push it ....... my weight is going down each day and my shirts are definately got a bit more room in them up the top (no the chest area) could be my guts have dropped though lol
Liquid's only: The doctor told me I was on a liquied only diet until I saw him a couple of weeks after my hospital release and I had to be able to suck it up a straw and it wasnt allowed to have any lumps at all ..... | |

| Wow I can't believe you are out of hospital already. I put on weight too, grrr. My husband has banned me from this shoddy pair of scales because I keep getting annoyed. I am going to buy some decent digital ones today, if there is such a thing under $100ish. Then I have promised him I will wait till my specialists visit to weigh myself again. (He is so bloody sensible) I am agreeing because I am getting so pissed that the weight is not moving yet. Are you on mushies already? I am still on liquids for another week. Well rest up hun I am glad to hear you are back safe and sound. :-) Cinni | |

| Hi Shanna, and welcome back I'm so glad to hear that it went well for you - seems like you're breezing through so far, and I hope it stays that way. Oh bowel movements - it's all so icky isn't it? But at least yours aren't messy. Don't worry about the weight gain - a couple of other people just done have had the same problem, but it won't last. Oh, I'm so happy for you - it's been a long wait, and now it's done. You just wait until you start dropping that weight - and it won't take long, believe me! Hugs Chris | |

| I am home- taking percoset for the pain which seems to be working like a charm- Went in at 10AM Monday and was ready to come home by Tuesday evening but they kept me one more day to be sure. Really went like a breeze but the stinky part was I gained 12 pounds worth of fluids in two days. Thank goodness I didn't stay any longer or I would have put on another 20 kilos! To tired to write anything funny but I am going over to check out the mushie diet since my husband appears to have absconded with my post operative directions. Oh LOL you know how all of you are having bowel movement issues- mine are coming out striaght water. I took a vitamin laxative about 5 days ago to start my new life all squeaky clean and I can hardly get to the loo on time- crack up laughing - trust me to have a different experience than the rest of you. Hugs to all of you for your support. Will write more later tonight but I am trying to figure out what I can have for dinner so I have to go over to the mushie side. ...preferablu something binding. | |

| Hello all- Time to come out of the closet a bit- asnewme1 is now - tada- Shanna- a nickname that I used at work for many years- short for Shoshanna which means Rose of Sharon. I want to send out a to all of you who have been so kind and supportive to let me in to this forum. Still in my countdown to September 8th sleeve. Looking forward (well sort of) to taking the final weight and measurements and pictures and just putting them up on the site. Have been steering conspicuously clear of the scale for the past few weeks as my food funeral continues but even that must come to an end in just a few more days. Just think of where we will all be a year from now- at goal- this next year is going to be such a blast- so much fun to have people I can share it with. Must remember to search on line for a smiley that prances around in a bikini- wouldn't that be cute! | |
