| Welcome Kerrie.
You've made a good decision with your surgeon. I've met Dr Daoud twice and really respect him even though he refused to operate on me. He strikes me as a very competent, thorough and ethical man. He did a VSG on one of my friends and she's done very well. He also did the VSG on my old GP and he was very impressed.

| I just stuck my name in my signature, saves typing it out all the time, and please feel free to use it! I do the same as Tara in regards to user name vs whatever is added at the bottom of a post. | |

| Hello Tara,
Yes I thought that was the way to go; use username unless name is given etc. The surgeon I saw was Dr. Mark Daoud. He performed the procedure on my cousin almost 2 years ago and she is very pleased. Brisbane is lucky to have good specialist procedure surgeons.
I do think there is some luck in this as well with regard to leaks etc. Any sort of thoracic/abdo op where stapling etc as anything that contaminates the cavity (not unlike a burst appendix) causes inflammation/infection. I see there is a poor girl on here that is going through a dreadful time with prolonged ongoing complications and I dearly hope this is rare, and they can troubleshoot that asap to end her suffering, very sincerely. Her surgeon must be dreadfully worried. These things happen unfortunately, even with very compliant patients. And that is why we weigh carefully the risks. Knuckleheads who quip it is a quick-fix are simply uninformed. That is why I addressed everyone as SLEEVER CHAMPIONS !! at my intro...courageous, brave, valiant, executive decision makers.........pro-active......
How are you going Tara? Are you happy, did you have any issues post-op etc? Kerrie (zigzag) | |

| Hiya Kerrie,
I'm not sure what the rules are exactly, but if people put their name at the bottom of their posts I generally call them by name. Otherwise username will do.
I'll see if I can find a link for you to the Diary section but if you just go to the Home page and scroll down you should be able to find them.

Glad to have you on board.
Hey, who's your surgeon ??

I hope I can one day quote online, Wenchiepoo's line at -30 Kg, 'well bugger me' (in the best west country accent I can muster), too.
Okay guys, rules are rules......Should I only use 'usernames' ? I shall go back and re-read the destructions again...tee hee hee.
Yes the diary section...... Would you mind - until I know my way around......How do I get there ?
Once again thanks :-D

| Have been reading through here on and off for months. I am an A1 candidate for VSG, with comorbidities all ticked pretty much, but I am, well .... terrified (Think cowardly lion). Key in my concerns is that I may swap one set of comorbidities for another set... eg via severe vitamin deficiencies etc. I really need to go to some VSG talks with patients and get the lowdown. Have researched to infinity and beyond as I do not want to go in sight unseen. My cousin has had the procedure about 2 years ago and cannot praise the surgeon too highly and has found great success - hair loss (grew back) and all. The surgeon and staff have not even had a flicker of impatience when I have cancelled my second (pre-op) appointment.... It is a very serious thing and I need time, so will take that time. Would like to hear from long-term sleevers; say over 5 years. I am prepared that the procedure is an aide for longterm health management. I could always lose the weight but by 2 years out it was on again because I was so hungry, and then I would get all self-defeated and so the merry-go-round of eating to feel better. (NOooooo!!) Anyway.......GREETINGS SLEEVER CHAMPIONS from zigzag (Kerrie) from Brisbane Sunny Queensland AUSTRALIA | |
