| Hi Laura, like you I'm a little nervous and unsure about the dietician consult, so no help at all sorry, but just wanted to offer my support! I'm an emotional eater and an overthinker...creates a perfect mental storm for worrying about things like this!
Good for you for starting this journey!

| Hiya Laura!
First appt with my dietician was pretty much just going over what my former daily intake was, then sorting out the Optifast diet for pre surgery.

| Welcome, and congrats on being here. There is loads of support and encouragement here.
My dietitian appointment was pretty laid back. She basically wanted to know what diets I had tried before, what sort of foods I ate, did I exercise. I think she was trying to work out if I was in the right head space but also work out where I might struggle with the road ahead. For me the two things were water I take ( because I am hopeless at drinking water) and also the fact that my social life revolves around food.
She have me the fun down on what I will be eating post op, an idea of portion sizes and the info for the purée phase which for me will be for 3.5 week after surgery.
Every dietitian and also surgeon have slightly different plans and rules but that was my experience.
Good luck Nik | |

| Hello
I am at the very start of this journey. I found out last week that I am pre diabetic and at 38 years of age (39 next month) it was the icing on the cake and I decided to finally do something about it. I am happily married and have 2 young children (6 yrs and 3 yrs).
I have been thinking about it for a long time and finally I have taken the next step. Just yesterday I had my first appointment with a specialist and have decided to keep the ball rolling; I have my gastroscopy booked for 10 Feb and then the dietician a week later.
My specialist (Dr Selena Ward) said that following my dietician appointment I will have a review with her to see if I can go ahead. I am nervous about the dietician part; I was wondering what peoples experience was with this part of the process? What is the dietician looking for?
Great forum, heaps of info.
