| Hi Geoffrey, Great topic, I wrote this list of "things I'm looking forward to" for myself a few weeks before my surgery. I thought it would strengthen my resolve if things got tough. It's a bit long but here goes. Cheers, Pip
Things I'm looking forward to:
- heading off or reducing the risk of obesity related illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, stroke and many cancers - reducing the risk of husband and children being my carers - being a more fun and active mum and wife - Not worrying whether a chair or stool will hold my weight - Being able to do aeroplane seat belts up without worrying they don't do up. I had one experience of needing a seat belt extender... Never again! - buying clothes because I like them, not just because they fit - having more energy to run around with the kids - feeling less self conscious riding a bike, running with children, feeling more confident in the mums race at school - not being the fattest woman in the room - enjoying clothes and heels again - not worrying the kids will be teased about my weight - going through tight spaces with confidence - having more stamina and being less tired - being more fearless - wearing dresses and skirts without long undies or bike shorts underneath - pretty underwear - strappy heels - shorts - shopping in normal shops again - not feeling anxious about taking up too much room when I sit next to someone - having the obesity loading taken OFF my life insurance premium - not being fat in summer - swimming whenever - wearing a belt - wearing a tailored dress that zips up, not stretch material - wear heels all day (or evening) - jump on a trampoline - go on the swing and slide at the park - be able to rescue the children if they get scared climbing at the soft play centres - do handstands and cartwheels with Kids - having a lap - having a waist - not snoring

| Ahh the simple things, after reading your post Jags I thought I'd give the bath a go! Wahoo I fit (ours is a long narrow bath) no longer do I need the vasoline to slide in and out.
It's funny isn't it about flying? My MIL complains about flying and she is av height and dead thin! I always say "but look at me, I'd love to have your problems" Thin people say fat people should have to pay excess weight charges and its not fair! What about when we pay full price entry and can't go on any rides?...... Anyway rant over with lol
Come on people's, share your goals. Great reading.

| ok, i want just about everything everone has said here already... BUT one more thing... to have a bath! ie, to be able to get into the bath, to be able to fit incomfortably without displacing ALL the water, then to be able to GET OUT again!!! It's been about 7 years since I had a bath, and oh how I would love to just put some music on and relax in bubbles!!! | |

| I have thought long and hard about my own list, and the very mundane thing that I am looking forward to the most is being able to cross my legs like a proper lady. That being said my list also includes; - being able to fit in the overalls so I can do the Barbour bridge climb - not shopping in speciality "fat people" shops - buying a bra for under $100 - wearing knee high boots - not worrying about eating in public - walking/running without being conscious of the flub moving faster then I am - using the stairs without sounding like I am having an asthma attack - being able to climb to the top of the look out near my house
Most importantly is my health improving and becoming fertile enough to have children.

| I want my feet not to ache just from standing 8 hours at work. I want to be able to eat in front of people without worrying about them thinking "oh no wonder she's so fat!" I want to walk up stairs without turning red & looking like I'm about to have a heart attack. I want to enjoy exercise again. I want my husband to think I'm beautiful. I want to think I'm beautiful! I want to never have to shop in a "fat girl" shop again. I want to lose this weight & not have to worry about ever putting it back on again! | |

| Yes Geoffrey my list in the first part was similar health and weight and almost 6mths on I have achieved that no more pills just vitamins and just under 30 down.
My list
To be comfortable in a plane seat / To be able to walk around in extreme heat without dying / To not get rash between legs doing the same thing / Not to be the beached whale at the beach / To live longer To feel proud of myself / To have others be proud of me / To exercise without fear of flubber To love myself / To learn to swim properly To learn to snorkel To eat sweets but just a really small amount instead of a mountain
Just writing these things down makes me realise I am well on the way even now and I am still in the honeymoon period look out world 2014 Blue is coming. Just look at those ticks almost there yippee!
Geoffrey I would like to say that I would do some of your action things but I am scared of heights.

| Just wondering what people want out of their sleeve? I guess for most the 1st would be health followed by being thin! Or something around that. So this thread isn't about your goal weight but what you want out of life and what you're looking forward too?
Myself, I'm looking forward to do everything my weight has stopped me from doing.
-Sky diving -diving -climb a mountain. -bungee jumping.
They're my selfish list.
My family list
-play sport with the kids -beat my teenage boys at go carting -going on a family holiday and go on ALL the rides! Scary or a merry go round. - enjoy my family
Normal everyday things.
-go into a normal shop and buy something for me -not get the "gee your a big fella" -enjoy my family -look forward to a plane trip!
I'm positive there are 1,00's of other things.... Not that I'm greedy lol
So what's yours? | |
