| Hi Kazbo,
It is ashamed that you feel like that about Dr J. Maybe he did have a bad day but there is no excuse as he is a professional.
I have always found him and his staff very professional and always have the time to answer questions or concerns that you may have. The ongoing support I have received has been wonderful. At the moment I only see him yearly but he said that if there is a concern or need - just to make an appointment.
My surgery and hospital stay was great with no problems at all. I felt that I wasn't ready to go home at day 5 (due to constipation & fluid intake) and he was so supportive of this and recommended I stay in until I was ready. I have had no complications and have maintained my weight loss over the last 15 months. Even though I didn't reach my own goal weigh that I set - I am happy where I am.
I recently also had plastic surgery to a PS he recommended. I trusted his recommendation and the surgeon of choice did a wonderful job. I am in such a good place at the moment and have no regrets.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Dr Jorgensen or Dr Knox (PS)

I have never been treated with such apathy and disinterest by a medical professional in my entire life. Hi there Kazbo, I do notice that your post was written a while ago and just maybe you caught Dr Jorgensen on a bad day, but my experience of Dr Jorgensen and his whole team was absolutely perfect. I had an appointment this week and it was relaxed, professional and very friendly all around. I have had a fair few recommendations from other patients who speak very highly of him. I wouldnt be travelling from Tasmania to be insulted lol. Sincerely hope you are achieving what you set out to do Kazbo. Heidi

| I mentioned to my banding surgeon that I had seen Dr Jorgensen and that I found him to be rude and arrogant...he was quite surprised as he was taught by Dr Jorgensen and says that he is a really, really nice guy - perhaps I got him having a (very) bad day...
Anyway, my banding surgeon said that Dr Jorgensen is an excellent surgeon and one they recommend patients to for gastric bypass and more complicated surgeries...he would have no hesitation in recommending Dr Jorgensen to anyone

- Hi All,
I thought I might share some info regarding Dr Jorgenson with whom I met today and some of the answers to his questions. Hopefully this will assist others in making the decision on the surgeon that is right for them.
Dr Jorgensons office is within the St George Priv Hospital. Parking is available very close by within a public parking lot of under the hospital both at a cost. Reception staff and his nurse were absolutely lovely. Very thorough and willing to help. Initial consult was $200 with $75 back from medicare. Total out of pocket costs for surgery are looking to be around $5000. As of 2013 he has once monthly seminars of around 1.5 hours long which are INCREDIBLY interesting and 100% worthwhile. I have a feeling that he prefers all patients to attend a seminar before making an appointment. I 100% suggest you attend and take a friend/partner/family member, they will be thoroughly interested too, I guarantee. You need to book in to attend. He will answer your questions and provide a lot of very interesting and thorough data.
-Dr J has performed over 900 sleeves. At present he is performing 4-5 a week but on average with holidays he does sleeves 4 out of 7 days. -Has has had no deaths, leaks or serious disability as a result of the gastric sleeve. -He uses a 36 French Bougie he claims any larger doesn't give top results and any smaller e.g. 32 & 34 result in too many serious complications. -I asked him to explain the bariatric surgery graphs of weight loss that being a rapid weight loss over 12 months and then an increase of about 10% which then generally plateaus out: He stated that the reasons why people who have had bariatric surgery- bypass, sleeve and band start putting on weight around 12 months post surgery is unknown however he feels it is a combination of things: 1. The body trying to return to its "set point" that being your highest weight. While most don't return to that set point, some definitely do and can put on weight however most of his patients have not. 5 year data collection is happening later this year so time will tell. 2. Poor food choices and lack of exercise 3. Chips and chocolates tend to pass through the sleeve quicker and people therefore can eat more. More junk = more calories.
-5 & 7 year data is still not available as the sleeve is a relatively new surgical procedure however by the end of 2013 there will data released as many surgeons who started the procedure 5 years ago will have collated info. -Dr J himself was very approachable, he listened and gave me opportunity to ask my questions. We discussed at length food choices and his perceptions on food, what to eat, what to avoid. We discussed current data, recent studies on food, nutrition, weight loss, diabetes and insulin resistance etc. Our appointment was for about 30+ minutes and the same with the nurse. My husband and I left feeling very well informed.
Thanks for this feedback, I was recommended to Dr Jorgensen today by my psychologist....she has had a few clients go to this doctor and she can't speak highly enough of him
