| Oh, thank goodness, what an enorous relief. I will just have to deal with the burping I think. Although I had a balloon and never had any complications with that.
I am lucky that I can fly Business class and that should make a wee difference and will over night in Sydney.
I am so pleased you are feeling better and good luck with the weight loss.
hugs right back at ya. | |

| Please don't worry too much I'm a week out now and feel totally different. I never had pain from the surgery itself but more from the hernia repair I think. They got me on steroids and it reduced the inflalmamation. After starting this thread yes I feel I could hold a business meeting although I'd probably keep burping lol. I really did struggle the first 4 days but its settled well. Hugs and good luck x | |

| Oh goodness,
I have been reading the posts about severe pain post surgery, and am beginning to have a cow over it.
I am due for surgery in 6 weeks, and a week to the day after surgery I have to fly to Sydney to meet a very important, high profile client who is flying in from abroard just for that meeting...at the international airport. This has been planned for ages and I am not sure I will be well enough to do it.
I don't care that I can't eat anything or sup on champers etc, but I really need to get through that flight and meeting, and I certainly don't want to spew or anything in front of him.
Anyone have any advice on how to get through the flights and the meeting (that will be very very long).

| Ask for some sublingual anti nausea tablets, they are a tiny wafers that melt under your tongue. For sleep, ask for Temaze, the tiny white ones as they too can dissolve under your tongue. A good sleep which is very hard in hospital will definately help you.
For wind pain, can you take De-gas? They are tiny pills that dissolve really quickly when you swallow. I went through 3 packs after my lapband lol. Most hospitals will provide it if you ask. Plus walking (or in my case it was bent over hobbling) is the only way.
I took forever to recover too and was pretty miserable but the anti-nauseas made a huge difference because then I could then tolerate drinking more. Just remember, tiny and regular sips. Forcing more in too quickly will also make you feel ill. At one stage I was drink water with a spoon to force me to slow down. It does improve and you will be happy, you just need to recover in time :-)

| Thank you all x the surgeon tightened my esophogus up so he thinks its either swollen or too tight he wants to keep me in and if no better he will loosen. The pain in my back gets excruciating but once vomited eases. I just can't lie in my back. Sorry typing left hand as I got an infection in my iv in left hand so they done it in right but now I can't move. They have me on nil by mouth still but allowed me peppermint tea | |

| Most people are in hospital for around 4 days.
If you have an issue with pain, speak up and let your nurses know and also let your surgeon know when he comes to see you.
The first 6 weeks are the hardest, unfortunately.
Make sure you are walking around a lot as this will help ease the gas out of your body which may also be causing pain.
When I had my sleeve I thought I would breeze through it afterwards as I had had laporascopic surgery before and recovered quickly and fairly pain free.
I didn't breeze through it. Recovering was slow and painful and I also went through many moments of wishing I'd never done it.
Just take it slowly, go for lots of walks around the wards and let your care team know of any pain/concerns you have.

| I was in hospital 4 days..but because I ended up with morphine poisoning..honestly I hated and regretted the sleeve for the last 3 weeks..but it does get better, trust me. I had terrible crushing pain in my chest..due to the tube going down my oesophagus causing some irritation..it honestly felt likei was having a heart attack.. I was extremely tired and showering was a epic effort... The pain does subside... Drink peppermint tea for the gas and any nausea you have..I found that it helped me well. Also they recommend walking for gas pain.. Just relax, take it easy you have had major surgery. Also I couldn't fit oral meds..so I just didn't take any..good luck x | |

| Had my op on Tuesday and right now all I want to do is cry and wish I had never gone ahead. I am in so much pain I can't take anything orally without wind pain and bringing it back up so I am still in hospital despite the fact I should have been leaving today. I've had ops for numerous things in the past but never felt this crap. I can't sleep for pain I can't sit for pain and I can't walk for vomiting and pain. Am I on my own here | |
