I am 18 months post op & yes I have a regret....................that I had to go to the extreme of putting myself on an operating table & having my tummy chopped out so I could reclaim my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The thought of leaving my hubby a widow & my daughter motherless still leaves me cold.
I wish I was a stronger person that didnt have to resort to the extreme to lose weight but I did & I am.
So in saying that NO regrets I am happier, healthier & more alive than I have ever been in my adult life.
K HI K...what an absolutely honest and beautifully explained response...thanyou | |

| Hi Mark,
Congratulations for making this great decision. I am now almost 10 months from surgery, 46kg gone and only 10 kgs until I am a healthy BMI.
I look back on the surgery and post op now and it was managable but hard to remain patient through the recovery. Just take it a day at a time and remember that the food you put in your mouth has to nourish your body on very small quantities so make sure it counts.
I pay more attention now to how my body responds to things and have a consciousness about that I am doing to my body with every mouthful. Don't get me wrong, I eat rubbish too but just not much of it and not all the time. Just enough to satisfy the craving and then I am all good.
Good luck and enjoy your new life. I now ride a bike regularly and take ballet classes and I love it.

| Hi Mark I am just over my 1 year Anniversary with the Sleeve. Initially I started with the Gastric Band, what a nightmare journey that was. 10 months of pur agony but lost 23 kgs. Had band out. Sleeved March 20th 2012 todate I am at my Goal and have lost 38 kgs. Just had a Tummy Tuck/Breast Reduction doing ok for an old chock. Would I do it again yes yes and yes, this has saved my life. All the best for your forthcoming journey Val | |

| Hi, no regrets, just wish i had done it sooner,i was sleeved 13 th Dec 2012. I feel so much better and my bad foot has now got over healing from it's surgery with having less weight on it.Can now get into size 12 clothes which i have not done for years and i still cant even really believe that part. You get so used to going to the larger section of stores and it is quite a thrill being able to go into a normal sized section now. You cannot deny yourself a good healthy life ahead of you and this is the way of making this possible. Not an easy way out as their is a lot of adjustments to make, mind and body but most seem to get through them, the odd was has a harder time but it does work out in the end and by the site, all sleevers do get a great achievement with what they have had done. If i had to do it again i would as i had no trouble at all, keep a positve mind and determination and you will be fine. | |

| Hey Mark - I'm only fairly new at this, but I suppose that means the Opti phase and the pain from the surgery are still fresh in my mind. I'm really pleased for you, and this is a great question. Everyone is different, but I have no regrets at all. If you do your homework, including letting your brain figure out why you are fat in the first place, you will get through at least the Opti and the Op itself, but really that is all I can be sure of! But so far I can see that this will change my life, and that is worth it! | |

| Glad to hear you've made the decision Mark ! Honestly . . . I think have had one or two times when I have had the thought of I wish I hadn't don this BUT I must say that this was VERY early on when I could only have liquids and all I wanted to do was feel food in my mouth. I got over that fairly quickly when I saw the weight falling off me ! I went through some hards times with feeling sick and just not wanting to eat and I hated feeling sick all the time but knew that this was the best thing ! Now I have lost 48.1 kg to date, I still have about 25 kgs to go but this has certainly been my lifesaver !! The best thing I have EVER done for myself ! I am now the smallest I have ever been as an adult and I can actually fit into my Year 10 formal dress !! how amazing is that !! I hope your journey is all that you want it to be !! Cheers L | |

| Before the surgery I thought that I might have moments when I would regret it but I'm almost 8 months out now and I really haven't. It hasn't all been easy and I still have to work to loose weight but I'm pretty happy with how everything has gone. I still have concerns about whether I will ever truely learn to just eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm satisfied, but that was a journey I would have needed to work on regardless. I love my new found energy and fitness. I've had a pretty easy recovery though and no complications. | |

| Hi
I don't regret it although it hasn't been easy and I still have weight too lose. It still is a learning game for me and trying to get my head use to it. I can't eat some foods but not too worried about that.
I still have to becareful when eating because snack type food (processed carbs) are easy to eat. I do eat from small bowls/plates that I find helpful, even use kids cutlery.
