| Wow there's so much difference in what the surgeon will allow. Mine has strawberries as the only allowable fruits. I blend about a half a cup full and mix it in with the vanilla opti. It improves the taste of the opti and also adds texture to it.
I'm Allowed two cups of low carb veges a day. I make a salad and a soup and have one with dinner and one with lunch shake. You really do start to feel less hungry. In actually at the stage now (day 6 pre op) that I am forgetting to eat. I realised this morning that I'd only had two optis yesterday. I ate my salad at dinner but forgot the opti!!
Here's a really nice soup recipe that you can freeze in portions.
1ltr beef stock. 1 leg can crushed tomatoes. 5 med sized carrots. 1 lrg onion. 4 celery stalks. Large handful of baby spinach leaves. 8-10 med sized button mushrooms. 1 zucchini.
Put stock and tomatoes in large saucepan, bring to simmer. Wash and chop all vegetables. Chop them into small bite sized pieces. Throw all veges into saucepan and turn down heat. Cook covered for ten minutes and uncovered for ten minutes.
It's really nice. Very flavoursome but still pre op friendly!!

| Sara- Im going good!! And you?? It's getting close, I was thinking of you during the week and got excited cause you had less than a week till opti! I can't believe it just over two weeks to go for you! Doing a happy dance, lol
Kell - some chemists have the chocolate moouse, I think mine was from Priceline pharmacy. Make it at least an hour or so before, I found the colder it was, the better it tasted!
Margd- omg, you poor thing, I would have died without my small piece of fruit to get me through!!!
Pinklilly- yes it will get a lot easier, half way through the furst week things will be looking up!!! :-)
Good luck to all those optifasters! Will be worth it, I promise!

| Oh thank you do much for your support and recipe options. I didn't know I was allowed 2 small pieces of fruit until I looked at my Optifast brochure a second time. The field mushroom with veggies sounds yummy. Great idea for dinner :) thank you. Where do you get the opti moose? | |

Does it get any better the longer you are on it?? I am hoping that my stomach will shrink and I wont feel as hungry.

| Hi Kell
Promise you'll make it! Lol. I know it doesn't seem like it at the time though! those headaches and that will go!
I had a little Routine happening with mine and I never felt hungry
Breakfast- shake in a blender with about half a tray of ice! Took longer to eat
Morn tea - I was allowed some fruit, rock melon, berries & kiwi (low sugar fruits)
Lunch - bar and allowable salads or vege
Arfternoon tea - another small fruit again
Dinner - opti moouse ( I found them very filling) and allowable vege again.
My fav vege dinner was a field mushy stuffed with fine chopped veges (mix of everything) stir fried with garlic and soy etc. then baked in the oven or my other was stir fried veges again (this time my mushies in the vege) all finely chopped and then wrapped in crispy lettuce leaves ( like San Choy bow)
Good luck, it will get easier!
Kas

I would have shake for breaskfast moring and afternoon tea would consist of fruit- kiwi, strawberries, apple etc with tea or coffeee whilst lunch and dinner would consist of shake with a salad or vegies or both... bearing in mind - either bar or shake or soup was permitted.... perhaps i was mentally ready - but for first time in my life i left full no hunger or headaches and seeing first 5kg off - there was no turning back.... do hang in there..... it will and does get better.... | Oh thank you so much everyone. I will make some jelly and veggies. I don't have a sweet tooth but I occasionally crave sugar. My biggest hurdle is the carbs. My stomach is growling as a type. I know it will get easier over the next couple of days. Don't know what I would do without your help xxx

| Hi Kell,
The headaches should disappear in a day or 2. I believe they are caused by your body detoxing. The hunger should die down in a couple of days too. I've read quite a few comments on this forum reporting that after a little while on Opti that they have no hunger at all. If you're like me and have a sweet tooth and ate lots of carbs you might find that after the initial stage of feeling horrible that you come out the other side without the sugar cravings. I hope this works out this way for you. I'm sure no one will tell you it's easy, but as part if the big picture it'll be so worth it. Think of it as perpetration for your new life. In just a couple of weeks you'll be commenting how full you feel eating so little.
I'm being sleeved the day after you. Have you joined us in the March 2013 thread in the monthly Sleevers ? There is heaps of support to be found on this site, including people in the same place as you and feeling the same way. The best part is reading the success stories knowing that soon this will be us too.
Keep your chin up and best wishes!

| Hello everyone, Im probably being a bit mellow dramatic. But i just started my optislim diet today and have this to look forward to for 14 days. Having surgery on 14th March. So scared!!! Anyway how did you guys get through optislim? Any receipes you can recommend? I will be very grateful for advice... Its only been half a day and i am grumpy, headachy, no energy and sooo hungry. Is this normal? My poor partner feels guilty eating around me. I dont want him to feel bad and i tell him its ok, but its so hard not to eat it. Feeling stressed and anxious. Thank you Hugs in advance.... Kell xxx | |
