| I just watched a couple of his youtubes he is very funny I love diet drinks so poo poo for me. I was interested by the gatorade as I am yet to operated on only having sleeve not bypass but I think I will get some for after as I have noticed quite a few people saying they crashed a couple of days later. Maybe slip 1 throughout the day for a week could be good idea.
Good luck to you whatever happens for you hope someone comes up with the right thing really soon.

| Well I just got a reply from Dr Rutledge in USA. He says: "Hello I am sorry to hear bout the slleve but the MGB, although it works very well is not a good match for "Psoriatic Arthritis". Look on youtube where I talk about ulcers and the MGB Dr. Rutledge Email: DrR@clos.net 702-714-0011" I thought this may be the case. I am seeing my surgeon again in a few weeks so will look at other options then. Feel fine with this as would not want to compromise my health by this surgery. Of course if I did not have my condition and medications (which can cause an Ulcer etc to MGB recipients) to consider then I would definitely go ahead with an MGB. Now I will look into a re sleeve or a band/ tightened sleeve. Good to know. Glad I got a response so quickly. | |

| This is the Dr Rutledge who is doing lots of mini gastric bypasses. From US. His videos are really interesting. https://youtu.be/Ei2Q0JQtOZ0 https://youtu.be/eSthWUrzdxA This is so interesting about artificial sweeteners, Also about benefits of gatorade after surgery as a way to re hydrate. https://youtu.be/FUVRL1X-fNo Creatine Supplement So interesting. He has lots of really useful tips and information for gastric surgery patients. https://youtu.be/iIste5LJfgY | |

| That's great news Tash, i really hope it works out. It does sound like an ideal solution and if there is a prob, like you say, it can be reversed. Hopefully it will all go well at the clinic and the countdown will be on! :)

| Hi Dooben. Thanks. Well he didn't go into a lot of detail but my tummy is a little enlarged and emptying a bit quicker and We both just feel that this surgery would be a better fit for me. I really think it will be much better. It is also reversible so if there were any real difficulties that resulted from it like malabsorbtion that I couldn't remedy then I can always go back to just the sleeve which is a real positive. Anyway I am very happy with this plan. My appointment has been made with the Metabolic obesity clinic on the 20th May. About 7 weeks away. Time will go pretty quick and I will have my answer soon enough. I am feeling pretty determined to go ahead with it and am pretty confident that I may get the approval. Thanks again for your input. Cheers Tash | |

| Well I am home from seeing the Doc. I will be going for an appointment at the Metabolic Obesity clinic at RPA. I need to see them to get the OK to go to Concord Hospital for surgery. As my PHI will only cover me in a Public Hospital. It will all now depend on whether the doctor I see at the Obesity Clinic give the go ahead or not. It will probably be a few months before I can see them as it is a public clinic and the waiting times are long apparently. They will send an appointment to me in the post. Once I get the go ahead then it shouldn't take too long to get a date for surgery at Concord then. All depends on getting a yes. We discussed me having the Mini Bypass as the Sleeve is the first part of this op already so the next bit of re attaching the bowel at a different point is the only thing he needs to do now. We think this would be the best option as I may not get much benefit from a re sleeve and the risks of a leak are higher with the re sleeve although they are also there with the mini bypass. Then to costs. He said he will do it for $2000 plus I have to pay the anesthetist on top. He said he will ask him if he will lower his cost but he dosen't know. His cost is about $1000. I would get $250 back from Medicare. There is also a $300 cost for Dietician and Psychologist Reports that I need to take with me to the Metabolic Obesity Clinic when I go there. That seems to be everything. My last surgery cost a bit over about $10,000 all up. So this price is much better. It helps that my health fund will cover some of the cost. He is charging a low fee as he usually charges about $5000. If the Dr at the Metabolic Obesity Clinic says no then I can't have the surgery as I could not afford it. All depends on their saying yes. fingers crossed. I feel pretty optomistic about having this surgery and feel that it will get me back on track with a better chance of reaching a favourable weight. He has stressed that I need to work hard on my head issues as the surgery can only do so much. If I get this chance I will do whatever it takes to tackle these mental demons. Wish me luck. | |

| Emptying too fast? I wonder what that means? Might have to google that one. I hope your FB book is able to get help too. I worrying when strange things happen and the docs don't really want to know. I hope my sleeve works ok when i eventually get it done. Eeek.

| I was told that Dr Taylor had a 100% sucess rate so maybe that is why he is not keen to resleeve. The last couple of times i have gone for my checkup i just felt like a number. | |

| I started at 108 kg. Got down to 82 which was a struggle all the way. Over the last 8 months or so I have regained 10. So now only 16 down from my starting weight. A bit depressing rely after paying over 10,000 dollars and being so optimistic. Bit tired of some of the stuff at o clinic but will wait and see if it is possible to get something done at a price I can afford.

| When Dr Taylor did my gall bladder at the end of october he come in to me with a photo of my gallbladder and one of my sleeve, and he said mine was perfect and he only wanted me to lose anothe 20 kilos, easier said than done.My sleeve just looks like a tube so maybe you have stretched yours,i so hope you can get something fixed out Tash. Have you lost much since being sleeved,my dietician said it slows down heaps after a years and she only expects me to lose 500 grams per week if i stick with the protein first rule. Keep us informed how things go. | |

| Oh Mapmar. I hope you can sort it all out. Sounds complicated. You must be happy to have a date now. Keep us updated please. Good for YOU. Yay !! Marg. Again well done. Yes I do get sidetracked by carbs too. Trying to adjust my diet as I speak. Well I had the Fizz CT Scan today. I hope they did it right. They nearly scanned my intestines instead until I reminded them that it was my stomach. Well I haven't got the paperwork as I have to go back to collect it but the pictures of my stomach look like a normal round stomach not a tube as you would expect from a sleever. So maybe I have stretched it I am thinking. Will be going back for a Barium swallow next week then back to the Surgeon so that he can look and tell me what is actually going on. Of course I have never looked at scans before so cannot trust my judgement but it would explain why I have so little restriction. Anyway thats the news for now. Be well and keep on keeping on peeps. Cheers Tash | |

| Hey Tash.... I am hoping to get it done in June after my holiday in May. Having issues with my bosses about going on holidays and also having a re-sleeve... so much has happened recently in my job I could write a novel! I have worked for them for 14 years this May and I haven't once said I hate my job... well the last 6 months.... don't let me go there... will take all night! LOL.
I know I am doing the right thing for ME..no one else... ME. I know the sleeve works but as with a lot of things nothing is perfect and as a tradition - it always happens to me! LOL....
My original surgeon has only done 3 re-sleeves with another surgeon so I am going with another surgeon who has done more.

| Marg - I am booked to get the scan and barium swallow at Western Imaging in Blacktown. They have never done the FIZZ CT before but rang Drs at The Mater to find out the details how to do it. The advantage is these tests will be bulk billed there rather than hundreds of dollars at Mater. First hurdle complete. I am happy to hear you are losing again. Well done.
Thanks Huggy. will keep you updated.
Mapmar, where and when are you having your surgery. Are you being re sleeved? Hope it all goes really well for you goes almost without saying.
I really think I do need further surgery and will go elsewhere if I don't get what I need from my current surgeon.
Cheers Tash | |

| Hi Tash,
Gosh it is a hard road we travel on this weight loss road....
I was also sleeved (and earlier banded) by Dr Taylor. I too have regained weight. I got down to about 83.5kg and felt and looked great...and promptly relaxed about my diet, exercise, grazing and all.
The result...I have gained back 6kg. I am trying so hard to get these rotten 6kg off but I am very shocked at how much my hunger has increased and how difficult it is to stick to a strict enough diet and exercise plan that is needed to get this bit of weight off.
I read your post with interest because I was secretly thinking it might be time to consider further surgery. Not just to lose the 6kg I have gained but because I am terrified of continuing to gain!
Obviously Dr Taylor is not keen to resleeve and if I needed to pay $5000 again I truly would not do it. I guess I have to try and get back on opti and start walking again.
You take care and keep us updated on how you are going,
Xxxhuggybear

I had to get the fizz ct scan and the barium test as i had really bad reflux,i still have the paper work, just never got it done.I have heard he does'nt resleeve, but who knows.I have a problem in that i have not lost much lately but the dietician and doctor say i have done well.I was told to get my protein up more as it was low,i started losing weight again.I hope things get better for you Tash .
