| Hi Reibie,
I agree with Shelly. You must take a sip then put down cup. Take another sip after a minute. Also water sometimes does give you pain in the tummy when you are newly sleeved. Try with a bit of diet cordial. In the first two weeks i also drank some hydrolight to combat dehydration.
Sip, cup down, sip cup down........lol

| Riebie,
Off topic but I love the kitty in your picture. It is gorgeous and looks like it is laughing. | |

| Hi Sherrie,
I was also sleeved on the 26/11/12.
I am still getting some pain when drinking liquids. Feels very uncomfortable in the centre of my chest for a few minutes and stops me from sipping anymore.
I am definitely having trouble getting my fluid level up because of this.
The best thing I have found is the colder the liquid the better it goes down- but slushy/icy liquids are the best. (Diet cordial)
Not too sure if this is a good or bad thing

| My doctor puts all his patients on reflux meds straight after the op,I was on them for a few weeks and then went off them as had no problems with reflux. So the lenght of time is different for everyone. Not all doctors do this though, but it may help you if you are having troubles, but talk to you DR.Yeah stick to protien shakes if thats all you can manage for now and water.Take it slow- you've been through a major op and everyones body copes differently

| I've not thought of reflux because to me, reflux is your food coming back up as opposed to struggling to go down! Does it last for long are reflux meds a permanent thing with sleeves? I hadn't been on any optifast but today after feeling like I am going to pass out everytime I move, I've just blended one up so hoping my energy levels start to improve from now on. :) Thanks Shelly! | |

| I didnt experience this but yes ring your surgeon. Are you on reflux meds? you may need to be.
I would suggest not to force it and just sip tiny amounts of tap water (not ice cold water) over the day.
Teeny tinny sips!

| Hi all
I am 5 days now post op, and have been home from hospital for 2 days, I am meant to be on 100ml/fluid per hour but it's impossible for me, as each tiny swallow I get a pain, it's not indigestion but it's not unlike indigestion. It's very hard to describe but it feels like a bubble of pain that sits on my stomach for a few seconds and then goes away. It doesn't matter what I drink, hot or cold drinks, juice, milk, coffee, water, yoghurt etc nothing seems to stop it from happening. Has anyone experienced this and can advise of ways to get around it? I will call my surgeon on Monday if it keeps up, but if I could get relief in the meantime that would be amazing!
Cheers Sherrie | |
