Hi

Just tell the Dr you have lost weight in the past (list diets/methods etc) and explain you keep putting the weight back on.

Good luck with your journey.

Hi LD,

I had a low BMI too (34) but was able to get the surgery done. My surgeon didn't even question it. I think it was because I have been working with a nutritionist for 3 years and she did my referral. I did ask if he needed me to eat more to make the BMI of 35!

Good luck with your surgeon. If you have any records of your weight being higher, maybe take that with you. If your weight has been tracked by GP, nutritionist or dietitian, they might be able to write a letter for you about your previous higher weight and rapid weight gain.

Keep us up to date with your progress.

Hi All,

I finally have got the courage and made the appointment to see Dr Cohn at Mercy Bariatric in Perth on October 15th. I am very excited and nervous, as the reception lady said I was had a light BMI for the sleeve, how do I explain that this a light BMI 34, but am on my way back to my original weight 105 k's after getting down to a BMI of 28/29 80 kg's, earlier this year, I feel that I cannot step back on that rollercoaster of dieting anymore. 90 kgs now!!!!

Please give me some advice on what to say??? so I can get this done, and has their been anyone out there in gastric sleeve land been refused. If I am I will look at travelling to Mexico, next year if need be, Desperate times
