| I would like to follow this progress as I am thinking about getting the sleeve and am really into triathlons... Don't want to give them up but need to do something about the weight issue as well. Congrats on all your progress. | |

| Would love a bit more info on this myself as I'm a cyclist in training and have worked up to 200 - 300 Kay's a week pre op, in 25 to 60km blocks. I had my op 4 days ago and am going well. I had discussed this very thing with my surgeon and dietician and we opted for 40 French as apposed to the original 36. He said they are much easier to manage, particularly with drinking, reflux is not really an issue and eventual weight loss difference is negligible in comparison. Sounds good to me! I got home from hospital yesterday and I went for little stroll this morning which turned into 10 kays as I felt good, albeit tender, and can drink quite easily now already. I hope to be back on the bike in a few weeks and back swimming. Not sure of time frames, see what the boss says at my review.
Would love follow up from other endurance/sporty experience on this topic and how they've gone about it.
Cheers

| hi there
i am so not a bike person, i have no balance but regards the energy issue, you can purchase things like energel. i see them in Woolworths where they have the protein powders or supplements. being each Woolies is different. any ways its a high energy gel in a tube like thing and you suck it. so maybe something like that might be of value to look into.

| I run and the only thing that can be a bit difficult is drinking on the run- burping hurts! however i have run 21 plus kms and its not a dreadful problem just remember to drink little and often i have a really bog race coming up next year 67km,,,,and am planning on using a bladder ruckack thing- i use jelly beans as they fit easily in to any small pockets and are sugary but not too much...bananas are good to the most important thing is to eat a good breakfast before you go out and then its less of an issue- something like porridge with some sunflower seeds get up early and eat in bed if it takes you a while! | |

Good luck. Well done 100%-er, I love the bike myself, not sure how I will go this time around with the knee's being a bit suss but I will give it a go and see what happens. I too used to do 50km rides, it was a real pleasure to push myself to see just how far I could go. Anyway well done on your weight loss so far, your doing fantastic! Cheers Scott | |

| Not sure to be honest Matt,
I want to ride myself when the weight gets down a bit, I guess a liquid version of something will be required but not sure how that's going to happen in the early stages of the Op? I guess it will be a suck it and see approach for me. I've got one of those Hydro packs so might put something in that and just sip when I can, see how that goes.
Sorry I can't be more help mate - but good luck with the op and the bike riding.

| Hi All im new here and are planing to get a sleeve soon and im wondering what others have done during exercise to remain hydrated and energy levels. I have done lots of endurance cycling in the past and have been on the bike for up to 5 or 6 hours during events. obviously i have to feed myself to keep going and im wondering how others go given that you cant just stuff food down your throat after getting a sleeve
Regards Matthew | |
